Chris Reid is the Vice President Software and Solutions, Ricoh Commercial Print Business. In this Ricoh Production Software “In the Spotlight” interview, we got a chance to get to know him a little bit better. Read on for his thoughts on work, life, a little bit of fun and what’s next for him in 2021.

Work

What brought you to Ricoh and when? I joined Ricoh with the acquisition of the IBM printing business in 2007.

What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most? I enjoy helping customers and working with the Ricoh teams around the world. It is fascinating to engage across cultures to solve common problems.

What does true leadership mean to you? Integrity is the most critical element and has to be the core for any leader.

Describe the best boss you’ve ever had. They were more of a teacher and a mentor than a boss – I am very lucky to have had several bosses that were like this.

What advice would you give to new hires? Be open to trying new opportunities and taking risks – you never know where they will lead!

Life

What are 3 words your kids use to describe you? Well, I asked them and this is what they told me: BEST. DAD. EVER.

Do you have a personal philosophy? I do. I’ve always liked Robert Fulghum’s All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten. It is fundamental and really taught me everything I need to know in life and in business: share everything, play fair, don’t hit people, put things back where you found them, clean up your own mess, say you’re sorry when you hurt somebody, warm cookies and milk are good for you, take a nap every afternoon, flush….to name a few.

When are you happiest? When I am on vacation with my family.

What would you like to be known for? Helping others.

Fun

What book did you read last? Code Name: Lise, The true story of the woman who became WWII’s most highly decorated spy.

What is a superpower you wish you had? Time travel.

When you’re not working you are…. Spending time with my family, mountain biking and skiing.

Chips or chocolate? Chocolate, definitely.

What’s Next?

Where do you see yourself in 26 months (5 years is boring)? I can’t wait to start travelling again for work and for pleasure. Being able to connect with staff and customers around the world and finally taking the vacations (Disney World® and The Maldives) that were put on hold.

Here’s to a positive 2021!
